Parenting
As Asian women, many of us come from families with rich immigrant histories, often carrying the traumas of our parents, grandparents, and earlier generations. This adds a unique layer of complexity to parenting, as we navigate the challenges of raising children of colour in modern society. We face the task of passing down our cultural heritage while balancing the differing norms of Eastern and Western cultures. Additionally, the influence of technology and social media introduces new challenges to our parenting journey.
At AMBER, we aim to create a supportive community where we can raise awareness of these unique factors and work together to break the cycle of generational trauma. We offer resources and workshops on various parenting topics to help us overcome these challenges. Together, we can support one another, grow from our past experiences, and build a brighter future for ourselves and our children.

As a second-time mother, our story teller expected the usual challenges, but when she returned home with her newborn, she felt an overwhelming sense of dread and sadness, despite having a healthy baby. Struggling with isolation and anxiety, she found it difficult to communicate her feelings to her husband, who held traditional beliefs about household roles, and she began to lose interest in everything she once enjoyed, feeling completely disconnected from herself.
