Pausing and Connecting: A Great Afternoon at Smethwick Park
Building on the wonderful energy of AMBERfest 2026, our recent community picnic at Smethwick Park on August 6th was a great day for connection, community and positive energy.
It turned out to be a truly fantastic day in the sun. Beyond relaxing in the park, it was inspiring to meet so many other local community groups doing remarkable work across the area. For those looking to get involved in more outdoor activities, the Sandwell Council website is a brilliant resource to check out—it features plenty of upcoming community events, including regular wellbeing walks.
Most importantly, the afternoon gave us a much needed opportunity to slow down, unwind, and reflect together. Using our AMBER "Together We Talk" conversation cards, we shared meaningful discussions and lighthearted memories, diving into questions like "What was your favourite game growing up?" “Name a memory from childhood that still makes you laugh”.
Watching the kids play while adults connected over shared stories reminded us of the simple power of fresh air, good food, and great company. Thank you to everyone who joined us and brought such warm community spirit! We hope to see you at the next one!
